About Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art
The Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art gathers paintings, prints, drawings and photographs made in Bermuda or inspired by it, by local artists and by foreigners who visited the island. The foundation that runs it was established in 1987.
Since 2008 the museum has been housed in a mid-19th-century shed that was used to process arrowroot, a plant cultivated on the islands. The building was restored between 2004 and 2008 to accommodate the collection.
In addition to the permanent collection, Masterworks hosts temporary exhibitions, workshops and cultural events. A café operates in the same building, facing the gardens, and the government has given the museum another historic building in the Botanical Gardens to expand its art and design activities.
