About Front Street
Front Street follows the north shore of Hamilton Harbour and is the city’s best-known street. On one side are two- and three-story buildings painted pink, yellow and blue, many with iron balconies over the sidewalk; on the other side are the piers, boats and ferry terminal.
The street is filled with clothing shops, craft and island-product stores, cafés and restaurants with tables facing the water. It’s also the setting for the city’s parades: on the Bermuda Day holiday in late May, and on other festive dates, groups of gombeys in masks and colorful costumes usually dance to the sound of drums.
Front Street leads to the streets that climb into the rest of the center, such as Queen Street and Church Street, where the cathedral, City Hall and Victoria and Par-la-Ville parks are located. To the east the street continues as East Broadway toward the BUEI.
