About Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity

The Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity is the seat of the Anglican Church of Bermuda and the tallest building in central Hamilton. It was built on the site of an earlier church destroyed by fire in 1884; construction began in 1886 and it was consecrated in 1911.

The neo‑Gothic design is by Scottish architect William Hay. The walls are made of Bermudian limestone with Caen stone details brought from France. Inside, the high nave, stained glass and woodwork contrast with the strong light from the street.

A narrow stairway of about 155 steps leads to the top of the tower. From there you can see downtown Hamilton, the harbor and, to the west, the Great Sound as far as the Royal Naval Dockyard. The tower climb is paid separately and is not always open: check before you go.
