About La Audiencia Beach
La Audiencia is a small cove on the Santiago peninsula, between Manzanillo Bay and Santiago Bay, about 10 km from downtown. The light-sand beach is protected by hills covered in vegetation, and the sea is usually calm, good for swimming and snorkeling near the rocks.
The name comes from a local tradition that says Spanish settlers and indigenous chiefs met there in the 16th century. There are hotels and resorts around the beach, but access to the sand is public, with food stalls and equipment rentals.
From the sand you can see the open sea and, in the late afternoon, the sunset between the hills. Boats leaving the beach go to diving and fishing spots along the peninsula.
