About Malecón de Manzanillo
Manzanillo’s malecón follows the bay in the city center, beside the port, where ships and container cranes can be seen. The promenade has palm trees, benches and viewpoints over the water.
At the end of the malecón stands the sailfish sculpture, a large blue metal work by the sculptor Sebastián, a symbol of the city and of sportfishing. In front of it, Jardín Álvaro Obregón is the central plaza, with a bandstand and commercial streets around it.
In the late afternoon, residents and visitors walk along the malecón, and the sun sets behind the mountains that close the bay. Nearby are the municipal market and the boats that depart for fishing and bay tours.
