About Jardín de San Marcos
The Jardín de San Marcos is in the neighborhood of the same name, about 1 km from the Plaza de la Patria. It was created in the 19th century and is surrounded by a carved stone balustrade with portals on all four sides, among tall trees, fountains and benches.
Next to it stands the 18th-century San Marcos temple, with an Adoration of the Magi painting attributed to José de Alcíbar. The garden is the heart of the Feria Nacional de San Marcos, created in 1828, which from mid‑April to mid‑May fills the nearby streets, the bullring, the theaters and the exhibition area.
Outside the fair, the garden is peaceful and frequented by families. The Paseo de la Exposición, next to it, leads to the bullrings and the theaters.
