  • Budapest Liszt Ferenc nemzetközi repülőtér (BUD) Budapest · 166 km
  • Baja vasútállomás 2 km

Approximate distances. Check flights and bus, train or boat schedules before you travel.

Baja train station receives trains from Budapest, direct or with a change at Sárbogárd or Kiskunhalas, as well as lines to Szekszárd and Kecskemét. The bus terminal has services to Budapest and Szeged. By car, roads 51 and 55 reach the town; Budapest is about 175 km away.

How many days

One day covers Szentháromság tér, the Türr István Museum, the Nagy István gallery and the Türr István lookout. With two days, you can spend a day in the Gemenc forest.

When to go

The months from May to September are usually warm and good for the river, the Sugovica beaches and the Gemenc forest train. The fish soup festival takes place in July and fills the main square. Spring and autumn are cooler; in winter it is cold, and Danube floods can close parts of the forest.

The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.

Do you need a car?

Not for the center, which is walkable, nor for the Türr István lookout, a longer walk away. For Gemenc, a car makes things easier, but Pörböly has a station on the train line between Baja and Szekszárd.
