The city

What to expect from Baja.

Port city on the left bank of the Danube beside the Sugovica arm, with a broad main square open to the river, Szentháromság tér. It had Hungarian, German, Serbian and Bunjevci populations, and its churches and museums tell that story. It is the city of Bajai halászlé, the local fish soup, and the gateway to the Gemenc floodplain forest.
