About Devil's Lake State Park
Devil's Lake State Park, south of Wisconsin Dells near Baraboo, is Wisconsin’s most visited state park. The clear lake lies between pink quartzite cliffs that rise about 150 meters, formed from very old rock and shaped by glaciers in the last Ice Age.
The East Bluff and West Bluff trails ascend by stone steps to the top of the cliffs, with formations such as the Devil's Doorway and Balanced Rock and views of the lake. Below, two beaches offer swimming areas, kayak rentals and picnic spots, and the bluffs attract climbers.
In autumn, the oak and maple forests on the slopes turn colorful, and in winter the park has cross-country ski trails.
