About Busch Gardens Williamsburg
Busch Gardens Williamsburg opened in 1975 on woodland beside the James River, east of Williamsburg. The park is divided into themed villages inspired by European countries such as England, Scotland, Ireland, France, Germany, and Italy, featuring architecture, music, and food from each region.
The roller coasters are among the most famous in the eastern United States: Apollo's Chariot, with large drops; Griffon, with a vertical plunge; Verbolten, partly indoor; Pantheon, a launched coaster; and InvadR, a wooden coaster. There are water rides, children’s areas, shows, and a train that circles the park.
The park also has animal areas with wolves, eagles, and Clydesdale horses. Throughout the year it hosts events like food festivals, Howl-O-Scream in the fall, and Christmas Town, with millions of lights, at year’s end.
Opening times vary by season: in summer it is open every day, and in other months only on selected days of the week.
