About Virginia Beach Boardwalk
The Virginia Beach boardwalk runs along the beach for about 5 km, between 1st Street and 40th Street, in the central stretch of the waterfront. Alongside the pedestrian path there is a separate bike lane, and on the other side are hotels, restaurants and shops.
At the level of 31st Street, in Neptune Park, a bronze statue about 10 meters high depicts King Neptune with a trident and sea creatures — one of the most sought-after photo spots. Small plazas along the boardwalk host live music on summer evenings.
The beach in front is wide, with lifeguards in summer. At the southern end a fishing pier juts out into the sea, and further along Rudee Inlet is the departure point for sightseeing and fishing boats.
At the end of September the city usually holds the Neptune Festival, featuring sand sculpture and a parade along the waterfront.
