About Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library
The Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library sits on a flat‑topped hill west of Medora, with views of the badlands and the national park entrance. The building, designed by the Norwegian firm Snøhetta, has an earth roof with native vegetation and was designed to blend into the landscape.
Exhibits tell the story of Theodore Roosevelt’s life, from his childhood in New York to his years in the badlands, his presidency, the creation of parks and protected areas, and the travels he made after leaving office. Immersive rooms, objects, and documents help relate these stories.
Trails around the building lead to overlooks above the badlands and the Little Missouri valley.
