About Bald Mountain
Bald Mountain, called Baldy in the valley, is Sun Valley’s main mountain and rises just above Ketchum. The summit is around 2,790 meters, with more than 1,000 meters of vertical drop to the base, and the slopes have long, consistent runs known for well-prepared snow.
Chairlifts depart from the River Run and Warm Springs bases, both in Ketchum. On the summit, wood-and-stone restaurants sit by the runs, with views over the valley and surrounding mountains. Dollar Mountain, a smaller hill on the Sun Valley side, is used for lessons and by beginners.
In summer, a chairlift brings visitors to the summit for hiking and mountain biking that descend the mountain. The ski season typically runs from late November to early April, depending on snow.
