About Main Street of Park City
Park City’s Main Street climbs the valley slope with wood and brick buildings from the era when the town’s economy relied on silver mining in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. After a major fire in 1898 the downtown was rebuilt, and many of those buildings were preserved when the mines closed and skiing took over from the 1960s onward.
At 528 Main Street is the Park City Museum, in the old city hall, with exhibits about the mines, skiing and an original underground jail. The Egyptian Theatre, dating from 1926 with an Egypt‑inspired façade, hosts plays, concerts and film screenings and was long one of the symbols of the Sundance festival when much of the event was based in town.
Along the street you’ll find galleries, shops and restaurants. A chairlift, the Town Lift, departs from the lower part of Main Street and takes you to the Park City Mountain slopes in winter.
In summer the street hosts a Sunday market with crafts and local food during part of the season.
