About Endless Wall Trail
The Endless Wall Trail follows the top of one of the canyon’s longest cliffs, on the north rim of the New River. The name comes from the sequence of sandstone cliffs that stretches for kilometers above the river, one of the park’s most famous climbing areas.
The trail is about 4 km and is almost flat, winding through a forest of rhododendrons, maples, and hemlocks. In some places, short side paths lead to the cliff edge; the main overlook, Diamond Point, opens views of the canyon, the river, and the rapids far below.
During the hike, it’s common to see climbers on routes along the cliff. The iron ladders that descend the face at some points are used by climbers and are not part of the trail.
Because the trailhead and the end are in different parking areas on the same road, many visitors return along the road on foot, or do an out-and-back to Diamond Point.
