About City of Presidents
The City of Presidents is a public art project that, since the late 1990s, has installed life-size bronze statues of U.S. presidents on downtown Rapid City street corners, made by local sculptors.
Each statue shows the president in a pose related to their story: Abraham Lincoln seated on a bench, John F. Kennedy with his young child, Theodore Roosevelt wearing a Rough Rider hat, Thomas Jefferson holding a map. The walking route passes dozens of corners and can be done using the map from the visitor center.
Along the way, Main Street Square has splash fountains in summer and an ice-skating rink in winter.
