About Harley-Davidson Museum

Harley-Davidson was founded in Milwaukee in 1903 by William Harley and the Davidson brothers in a wooden shed. The brand’s museum is housed in a complex of steel and brick buildings on the banks of the Menomonee River, near downtown.

The collection displays hundreds of motorcycles, from Serial Number One, the oldest known Harley-Davidson motorcycle, to police, racing and movie bikes, as well as engines, jackets and objects related to biker culture. A wall of gas tanks shows the evolution of colors and logos, and there are motorcycles that visitors can sit on.

Around the museum, the grounds include a restaurant and host motorcycle gatherings, especially on the brand’s anniversaries.
