About Hershey Gardens

Hershey Gardens began in 1937 as a rose garden Milton Hershey had planted on a hill near the town hotel. Over the decades the area grew to about 9 hectares, with themed gardens and tree collections.

The rose garden remains the heart of the site, with hundreds of varieties that bloom mainly in June. There are also Japanese, Italian and ornamental plant gardens, a children’s garden with fountains and play features, and a collection of large trees.

The Butterfly Atrium, a greenhouse open year-round, houses hundreds of butterflies from various regions of the world that fly freely among tropical plants.

From the top of the hill you can see the town of Hershey and the hotel built by Milton Hershey in the 1930s.
