About National Automobile Museum

The National Automobile Museum opened in 1989 from the collection of casino businessman William Harrah, who gathered hundreds of cars. It sits on the banks of the Truckee River in downtown Reno and displays more than 200 automobiles.

The galleries are organized by era, with scenic streets that recreate storefronts and gas stations from each period, from the early 20th century to the 1960s. There are rare cars, movie cars and automobiles that belonged to celebrities.

A temporary gallery changes theme several times a year, and a small theater shows films about the history of the automobile. The cars are displayed close to visitors, and plaques tell the story of each model.
