About SteelStacks

Bethlehem Steel was one of the world’s largest steelmakers and supplied steel for bridges, skyscrapers and ships for much of the 20th century. The plant closed in 1995, and the five blast furnaces, over 70 meters high, were preserved.

SteelStacks occupies the area around the furnaces, with an arts center, outdoor stages and a plaza that hosts concerts and festivals. The Hoover Mason Trestle, the former elevated ore-transportway, has been converted into a walkway that runs alongside the furnaces, with panels explaining how the plant worked.

At night the furnaces are lit with colored lights. Next to the complex there is a casino and an event center.
