About Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation

The Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation is part of The Henry Ford complex, created and dedicated by Henry Ford in 1929. The main hall, under a huge roof, brings together cars, steam locomotives, airplanes, farm machinery and everyday American objects from the last three centuries.

Among the most sought-after pieces are the Montgomery bus where Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat in 1955, the limousine in which President John F. Kennedy was riding in Dallas, Abraham Lincoln’s chair from Ford’s Theatre and Buckminster Fuller’s Dymaxion house. The Driving America exhibit tells the story of the automobile in the country, from the Model T to today’s cars.

The museum also has a giant-screen cinema, temporary exhibitions and interactive areas for children about invention and engineering.
