About Greenfield Village
Greenfield Village is an outdoor museum beside the Henry Ford Museum, where Henry Ford assembled, beginning in the 1920s, historic houses, workshops and factories brought from various parts of the country. There are more than 80 buildings spread along tree-lined streets, with interpreters in period clothing.
There you’ll find Thomas Edison’s Menlo Park laboratory, reconstructed with original parts, the Wright brothers’ bicycle shop from Dayton, and the house where Henry Ford was born. There are working farms, glass, pottery and weaving workshops, and a steam train that circles the village.
Rides in a Ford Model T, on a carriage or on the old carousel are part of the visit, and children usually enjoy the farm areas with animals.
