About Denver Art Museum
The Denver Art Museum occupies two striking buildings in Civic Center Park. The Martin Building, from 1971, is a gray-facade tower designed by the Italian Gio Ponti; the Hamilton Building, from 2006, is by Daniel Libeskind, with sharp titanium-clad volumes inspired by the peaks of the Rocky Mountains.
The collection is one of the largest in the American West. The museum was among the first in the country to present Native American art as art rather than solely as ethnography, and it has an important collection of works by Native peoples. There are also galleries of Western American art, pre-Columbian and Spanish colonial art, European, Asian, and contemporary art.
Temporary exhibitions are housed in the Hamilton Building, and family areas offer hands-on activities.
