About Elitch Gardens Theme & Water Park
Elitch Gardens is an amusement and water park in downtown Denver, along the South Platte River, with the city skyline in the background. The park was founded in 1890 as a garden and zoo in another neighborhood and moved to its current site in the 1990s.
It has dozens of attractions: roller coasters such as the Mind Eraser and the wooden Twister II, thrill rides with drops and spins, family attractions, and a children’s area with smaller rides. The water park, with water slides, a wave pool, and a lazy river, usually operates from late May to early September with the same admission.
The season runs from spring to the end of the year, with variable operating days, Halloween events in October, and year-end programming. On weekdays outside school holidays, lines tend to be shorter.
