About Vail Village
Vail Village is the town center, built from the 1960s in a style inspired by Alpine villages, with steep roofs, wooden balconies and pedestrian streets. Bridge Street, the main street, climbs from Gore Creek to the base of Gondola One.
The streets host shops, galleries and restaurants, and in winter are decorated with lights. The village parking structure houses the Colorado Ski & Snowboard Museum, which tells the history of skiing in the state and of the 10th Mountain Division, the unit that trained at Camp Hale south of Vail and from which some of the resort’s founders came.
To the west is Lionshead, Vail’s other village, connected to Vail Village by a walking path and the city buses.
