About Aspen Highlands

Aspen Highlands is about 3 km from downtown Aspen, at the entrance to Maroon Creek valley. It is one of the four mountains of Aspen Snowmass and favored by those seeking challenging terrain.

The best-known feature is the Highland Bowl, a large open slope high on the mountain. Access is on foot via the ridge, a climb of about one hour from the last lift, to roughly 3,777 meters. From the summit the view reaches the Maroon Bells. Below the ridge the mountain also has intermediate runs and tree skiing areas.

The base of Aspen Highlands is also the departure point for shuttles to Maroon Lake in summer. At that time the aerial tram does not operate for sightseeing, but the mountain trails welcome hikers.
