Divača – Obalno-kraška Destination Postojna and Škocjan about 45 km from Koper

How to get there

  • Aeroporto di Trieste (TRS) Ronchi dei Legionari (Itália) · 50 km
  • Divača 2 km

Approximate distances. Check flights and bus, train or boat schedules before you travel.

By train on the Ljubljana–Koper line, which has a station at Divača. By car, take the Divača exit from the A1, between Postojna and Koper. Trieste, Italy, is about 25 km away.

How many days

Half a day for the Škocjan Caves and the sinkhole trail. One day if you combine it with Postojna or the coast.

When to go

All year, because the main visit is underground. From spring to autumn the surface trail and the Karst are more pleasant, and there are more tour times.

The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.

Do you need a car?

Not essential: there is a train to Divača and a marked trail to the caves. A car makes it easier to combine Postojna, Lipica and the coast in the same day.
