About Goče
Goče is a village on the slopes of the upper Vipava Valley, southwest of the town of Vipava, on the road to the Karst. The stone houses, very close to one another, climb the hill along narrow streets, stairways and passages, forming a group protected as cultural heritage of Slovenia.
The village is known for its old cellars built under the houses to store wine, a sign of a winemaking tradition that continues in the valley. The cluster of houses, streets and cellars shows how a wine village in the upper Vipava Valley was organized.
Goče is part of the bicycle and driving routes that connect the villages of the upper Vipava Valley through vineyards, and pairs well with Vipava and Štanjel in the Karst. Some cellars in the village welcome visitors for tastings, usually by reservation.
