How many days

One day: in the morning, the Princes’ Palace and the Stara grofija; in the afternoon, the castle. Two days allow you to include Laško or Rogaška Slatina, or an afternoon at the spas.

When to go

April to October, when the castle has summer programming and hill walks are more pleasant. In winter the town is quiet and museums remain open.

The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.

Do you need a car?

No. The old town is walkable, and trains connect Celje with the spa towns. The castle is about 2 km from the centre, with an uphill walk: you can go on foot in about half an hour, or by car or taxi.
