About Mostnica Gorge
Korita Mostnice is the gorge the Mostnica stream carved into the limestone north of Stara Fužina, about 2 km from Lake Bohinj. For around 2 km the water runs between narrow walls, falls in small drops and forms pools of green-blue color.
At the entrance to the gorge stands the Devil’s Bridge (Hudičev most), a stone arch built in 1777 on the orders of Baron Žiga Zois to carry ore and products from his iron forges. Further up, erosion shaped a rock resembling an elephant’s head, known as Slonček, one of the most photographed spots.
Trails follow both banks and cross the gorge on wooden bridges, in a circuit of about an hour and a half. Those who want to walk further can continue to the Voje valley, with pastures and a hut, and to the Mostnica waterfall at the end of the valley, a half‑day outing.
The area is part of Triglav National Park. In the season an entrance fee is charged at the gorge, and the parking near Stara Fužina is paid.

How much time to set aside
The gorge circuit takes an hour and a half; half a day with the Voje valley and the waterfall.
Best time
In the morning on hot summer days, when the shade of the walls keeps the walk cool. In spring the stream usually has more water. In winter, ice and snow can close the trails.
How to get there
On foot, from Ribčev Laz to Stara Fužina about 20 minutes, and another 10–15 minutes to the gorge entrance. By car, there is parking at the exit of Stara Fužina.
Tip
Do the circuit by going up one bank and returning by the other, and continue to the Mostnica waterfall if you have the energy and time.
