The station is on the Bratislava–Žilina–Košice line, with direct trains. By road, the town lies on the route between Žilina and Liptovský Mikuláš and at the start of the road south toward Banská Bystrica.
How many days
One day: Vlkolínec in the morning and Malinô Brdo in the afternoon. If you prefer walking, you can hike from Malinô Brdo to Vlkolínec on a trail.
When to go
From May to October, for Vlkolínec and the Veľká Fatra trails. In winter, Malinô Brdo becomes a ski area, and Vlkolínec, when covered in snow, receives fewer visitors.
The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.
Do you need a car?
Practical. Vlkolínec is about 7 km from the center, on a narrow road, and has no regular public transport. Malinô Brdo can be reached on foot or by city bus to Hrabovo.
