About Wasagaming Visitor Centre
Wasagaming Visitor Centre was built in 1933, during the Great Depression, by unemployed workers hired through public works programs. The rustic-style log-and-stone building typical of national parks of that era features a steep roof, porches and a large fireplace.
At the same time the park’s east gate, the dock and several village cabins were built, forming a preserved ensemble of rustic architecture. The Visitor Centre is a National Historic Site.
Inside, an exhibit presents the park’s animals, forests and escarpment, with a room of taxidermy animals, maps and information about the trails. Park rangers provide guidance and run interpretation programs in summer.
