About Fishing Point Park
Fishing Point is the rocky headland that marks the entrance to St. Anthony harbour, at the end of the town's main road. On top sits a small white-and-red lighthouse and a municipal park with viewing points over the Atlantic.
A wooden staircase and trails climb the cliffs to the top, where the view reaches the open sea. It is one of the most visited spots on Newfoundland’s northern tip for seeing icebergs that come down from Greenland via the Labrador Current, generally in May and June, and the whales that approach the coast in summer to feed on small fish.
The number of icebergs varies greatly from year to year. The provincial tourism site maintains an updated iceberg map during the season.
