About Cavendish Beach
Cavendish beach is in Prince Edward Island National Park, which protects a stretch of north shore facing the Gulf of Saint Lawrence. The light sand is bordered by grass-covered dunes and, to the west, by low red sandstone cliffs.
In summer, the beach has lifeguards, change rooms and boardwalks across the dunes, which must not be walked on to avoid destroying the vegetation. Along the park’s coastal road there are viewpoints over the cliffs and other beaches, such as North Rustico and Brackley.
The gulf water is usually milder than the open Atlantic in July and August. The park charges an entrance fee during the season; check the current rates.
