About Halifax Waterfront Boardwalk
The Halifax harbour boardwalk follows the shoreline for about 4 km, from Casino Nova Scotia in the north to Pier 21 in the south. It’s the most pleasant route between the main downtown points and features wooden piers, squares, benches and sculptures, such as the concrete wave that children climb on.
Along the way are the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, harbour sightseeing boats, the ferry terminal for Dartmouth and the Halifax Seaport Farmers’ Market, one of the oldest continuously operating markets in North America, now housed in a pavilion near Pier 21.
In summer, the boardwalk fills with musicians, food stalls and cruise passengers. At night, the lights of the bridge and Dartmouth appear across the water. Even in winter it’s worth the walk, with the harbour active and fewer people.
