About Les Trois Pignons

Les Trois Pignons is the cultural and heritage center of the Acadian community of Chéticamp. The name, “the three gables,” comes from the building’s facade at the village entrance.

The museum shows the tradition of hooked rugs, made by pulling wool strands through a backing with a small hook. The centerpiece is the Elizabeth LeFort collection; LeFort was a Chéticamp artist who created rugs with portraits and historical scenes, some presented to heads of state. There are also objects from Acadian daily life, fishing and household tools, and information on the history and genealogy of local families.

The center serves as an information point for visitors arriving in the village. It is open during the summer and fall season; check dates and fees before you go.
