About Mont-Mégantic National Park

Mont-Mégantic National Park is about 60 km east of Sherbrooke and features forested mountains, trails, and, on the summit of Mont-Mégantic, an astronomical research observatory operated by Quebec universities.

To protect the observatory’s sky, the surrounding region was declared in 2007 the world’s first international dark-sky reserve, with lighting rules for neighboring towns. At the foot of the mountain, the ASTROLab is a public astronomy center with an exhibition, video sessions, and nights of telescope observation with guides, offered part of the year.

By day, the trails lead to summits and viewpoints over the region. The park is managed by Sépaq and charges an entrance fee; astronomy activities are paid separately. Check the season and the current schedule.
