About Lac des Nations

Lac des Nations sits at the heart of Sherbrooke, formed by a dam on the Magog River. A promenade of about 3.5 km encircles the lake, with a bike path, rest areas and parks, and it’s the preferred spot for locals to walk, run and cycle.

In summer, a fountain show with lights operates on the water on some nights, and the shores host festivals and open-air concerts. The promenade connects to other trails that follow the Magog River to the falls and the gorge in the city centre.

In winter, part of the lake freezes, and the promenade remains used for walks, with less activity. Benches and viewpoints along the way provide views of the old textile mill buildings, which recall the city’s industrial past.
