About Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps
The Spa‑Francorchamps circuit was born in the 1920s, when roads between Malmedy, Stavelot and Francorchamps were turned into a racing route. The original course, much longer, reached the entrance to Stavelot; the current, shorter layout opened in the late 1970s.
The circuit crosses hills and woods and is known for sections such as the uphill sequence of turns called Eau Rouge and Raidillon. It hosts the Belgian Grand Prix, the 24 Hours of Spa and other car and motorcycle races.
For much of the year the organisation offers guided behind‑the‑scenes tours that visit the pits, the podium, the press room and the race control. On event days access depends on having a ticket.
The visit pairs well with the circuit museum in Stavelot Abbey and with the neighbouring towns of Spa and Malmedy.
