Who we are

A travel guide to Belgium.

Cidade Turismo in Belgium brings together, destination by destination, what you need to plan a trip around the country: what to do, when to go, how to get there and how long to stay in each city.

What the guide covers

The guide starts with the cities that almost every visitor knows on a first trip: Brussels, Bruges, Ghent and Antwerp. It then covers places that often fall outside the typical first itinerary: Leuven and Mechelen, the World War I battlefields around Ypres, Liège and Spa, the Ardennes, the Meuse Valley, Hasselt and Tongeren, Mons and Tournai.

Each destination brings together the towns in the region, what to do in each, individual pages for attractions, when to go, and how to get there.

Flanders, Wallonia and Brussels

Belgium has three regions. Flanders, in the north, speaks Flemish. Wallonia, in the south, speaks French. Brussels, the capital, uses both languages. In the east, near the German border, a small part of the country speaks German.

Flanders and Wallonia each have five provinces, and Brussels forms a separate region. The guide organizes the cities by these divisions.

On signs, at stations and on maps, the local name appears, in Flemish or in French: Brugge, Gent, Antwerpen; and Brussels appears as Brussel and Bruxelles.

By train between cities

Distances in Belgium are short, and trains connect almost all the towns in the guide. On many trips you can base yourself in one city and visit others in the same day, traveling there and back by train.

The guide’s routes follow this way of traveling: they link several cities in a single itinerary, with the stops and how many days to allow in each.

Why there are no prices

Outside Brazil, the guide does not show prices for tours or tickets because they change frequently. The text notes when there is an entrance fee or charge, and the amount should be checked before you go.

How the content is made

The information for each place is researched from official sources, such as the tourism offices of Flanders, Wallonia and Brussels, the city halls and the attractions themselves, and checked before being published.

The pictures in this guide are illustrations based on the real place, not photographs, and may differ from it. Photos sent by travelers appear separately, as travelers' photos.

If you find any information that differs, write to us: fixing it is quicker than it seems.

All of Cidade Turismo

The guide started in Brazil and now also covers other countries, always with the same organization: routes, destinations and cities.
