About Cathedral of Malmedy
The church dedicated to Saints Peter, Paul and Quirinus was built at the end of the 18th century as the Benedictine abbey church of Malmedy. After the end of the principality it became the parish church, and during the 20th century it was for a few years the seat of a diocese, since when it has retained the title of cathedral.
The façade, with two towers, dominates the Place du Châtelet in the heart of the town. The interior, spacious and bright, has altars, a pulpit and furnishings from the 18th and 19th centuries, and reliquaries linked to the abbey’s history.
Beside it, the Malmundarium occupies the former monastery buildings and houses the cathedral treasury.
The visit is short and combines well with the museum and a stroll through the central streets.
