Jönköping – Jönköping Destination Jönköping and Gränna Capital

How to get there

  • Aeroporto de Jönköping (JKG) 9 km
  • Jönköping C 1 km

Approximate distances. Check flights and bus, train or boat schedules before you travel.

Jönköping C station is in the center, by the lake, with regional trains and connections to Stockholm and Gothenburg, usually requiring a change in Nässjö or Falköping. Jönköping Airport is about 9 km away. The town lies on the E4, the highway that links Stockholm to the south of the country.

How many days

One day covers the center, the Tändsticksmuseet and the Vättern waterfront. With two days you can include the county museum, Stadsparken with the open-air museum, and a trip to Gränna, 40 km to the north.

When to go

In summer the beach and the Vättern waterfront are lively and the days are long. May and September are good for walking the center and Stadsparken with fewer people. In winter the museums are open and the town has short, cold days. Check opening hours before you go.

The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.

Do you need a car?

No. The center, the station, the museums and the waterfront are close to each other, and there are local and regional buses, including services to Gränna. A car is mainly useful for visiting orchards and villages along the lake.
