Türr István Lookout (Türr István-kilátó)
Stone viewpoint and memorial, circular in plan with columns, inaugurated in 1938 in honor of General Türr István. It stands at the meeting point of the Sugovica branch and the Danube, with views of the Türr István bridge and the Gemenc forest.

About Türr István Lookout (Türr István-kilátó)
The memorial was inaugurated in 1938, on the 30th anniversary of the death of Türr István, the general born in Baja who fought alongside Garibaldi and took part in the construction of the Corinth Canal. The design is by painter Miskolczy Ferenc, founder of the town museum, and by Nagy András.
The structure is made of stone, circular in plan, with columns that support the terrace of the viewpoint. It stands on the Danube bank, exactly where the Sugovica branch rejoins the main river.
From the top, the view covers the Danube, the Türr István bridge—named after the general—and the Gemenc woods on the opposite bank. The site is one of Baja’s symbols and has appeared on the town’s postcards since the 1940s.
Access is free and the viewpoint is open all day. Cars stop at a parking lot about 400 meters away, from where a tree-lined avenue leads to the memorial.
