How many days
Half a day allows visiting the Nationaal Jenevermuseum and walking among the windmills. A full day includes the Stedelijk Museum and a boat trip along the canals, in season.
When to go
Canal boats usually operate from April to October. On windy days, the windmill sails often turn. In winter the museums remain open and the center is quiet; confirm opening hours before you go.
The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.
Do you need a car?
No. Train, metro and tram connect Schiedam to Rotterdam in a few minutes, and the streets of the old center are short.
