About Mount Hum (Laško)
Mount Hum is the hill that rises just above Laško, on the Savinja’s bank. The town grew on its slopes. The summit reaches 583 meters above sea level, about 300 meters above the valley, and overlooks Laško, the river and the forested hills of the region.
The most used trail begins near Tabor Castle, a fortification of medieval origin on the hillside, mentioned in documents from 1265. The route is about 3.8 km and gains some 300 meters of elevation, taking one to two hours, with steep sections.
The path passes through woods and clearings and allows views, during the ascent, of the Savinja valley and Laško’s center. Further afield, another regional hill, Šmohor, at 787 meters, is also a hiking destination.
The ascent to Hum pairs well with an afternoon of relaxation at the town’s thermal baths.
