How many days

One day: in the morning, the tower, the square and the cathedral; in the afternoon, the Basilica of St. Nicholas, the walls and the museum. If you arrive from Bratislava you can do this itinerary as a day trip.

When to go

From April to October, with good days for walking around the center and along the walls. Summers are usually hot. The town’s traditional fair takes place in September, and in December there is a Christmas market in the center.

The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.

Do you need a car?

No. The center is flat, compact and almost entirely pedestrianized, and the train station is next door. A car is only useful for visiting castles and villages in the Small Carpathians.
