By the road that leaves Liptovský Mikuláš and climbs the valley to Jasná, about 16 km. Buses connect Liptovský Mikuláš train station with the caves and Jasná, with more departures in the ski season and in summer.
How many days
One day for the two caves and Chopok. For ridge hiking in the Low Tatras or for skiing, three to seven days.
When to go
From mid-May to early September, when both caves are open and the cable cars take you to the trails. From December to March or April, generally, for skiing in Jasná. On the ridge, weather changes quickly and it can be very windy in any season.
The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.
Do you need a car?
Not essential: there are buses from Liptovský Mikuláš up the valley. A car gives more freedom of schedule, but parking near the caves and at Jasná fills up on peak days.
