How many days
One day for the SNP square, the leaning tower, the castle churches and the 1944 memorial. With two days you can add Špania Dolina, about 10 km away, or a walk along the city’s slopes.
When to go
Between May and September, when the square fills with outdoor tables. On August 29 there are national commemorations of the uprising. Winter is cold, with snow in the nearby mountains and a Christmas market in the square.
The seasons shown are the most usual ones; nature doesn't always follow the calendar.
Do you need a car?
No. The center is walkable, and there are buses to Špania Dolina and Kremnica. A car makes it easier to combine these places in one day or to reach the Low Tatras foothills.
