About Cameron Falls
Cameron Falls sits on the edge of Waterton Park Village, a few minutes’ walk from the lake. Cameron Creek drops in steps over a rock face before continuing to Upper Waterton Lake.
The waterfall’s rock layers, from the Precambrian, are about 1.5 billion years old and are among the oldest exposed in the Canadian Rockies. The tilt of the layers shows the effect of the fault that uplifted them.
A small lookout and a short trail climb the side of the falls. In spring, during snowmelt, the water flow is usually greater. Deer and other ungulates often wander the nearby streets.
