About Beaches of Penticton
Penticton sits between two lakes, and each end of town has its own beach. Okanagan Beach, to the north, runs along the downtown for about 1 km, with a boardwalk, lawns, the SS Sicamous, and restaurants across the avenue. Skaha Beach, to the south, is wider and more family-oriented, with parks, courts, and a marina.
The two are linked by the Okanagan River channel, about 7 km long. In summer the channel becomes a recreation route: people float downstream in inner tubes and rafts, carried by a gentle current, and return by bus or bike on the adjacent trail. Companies rent tubes and provide return transport.
The lake water usually feels warmer in July and August. Lifeguards patrol parts of the beaches during the season.
